Learning together, achieving more together

Sustainable medical development does not arise from short-term deployments, but through long-term partnerships. That is exactly what met4a (Medical Education and Training for Africa) stands for. Our goal is to become a leading NGO for sustainable medical education and training in Africa.

At the heart of our work is the principle “Learning together, achieving more together.” We understand our projects as collaborative exchange, where all participants benefit from one another.

A special feature of met4a is therefore the concept of mutual learning. Our training programs not only support the continuing education of African healthcare professionals. At the same time, they create valuable learning opportunities for German medical students as well as young physicians, who can gain clinical experience alongside their African colleagues that is rarely possible in the European healthcare setting.

This is explicitly not about a traditional overseas deployment. Our goal is to train responsible physicians with high clinical competence, intercultural experience, and a deeper understanding of global health. All programs are developed together with our African partner institutions and are consistently oriented toward their training goals and clinical priorities.

New projects in Uganda and Nigeria

met4a is currently pursuing two new project initiatives in Uganda and Nigeria with great commitment. Our board is already in close contact with potential partners on the ground to establish the conditions for long-term cooperation.

Initial fact-finding missions are planned for the coming year. The goal of these visits is to become familiar with the medical facilities and training conditions, to analyze the specific needs together with our partners, and to lay the foundation for sustainable training programs.

Because successful international collaboration begins with mutual understanding, shared goals, and the trust to learn from one another over the long term. That is exactly what met4a stands for – for a medicine that shares knowledge, connects people, and sustainably improves health.
