Who we are

Our Vision

Sustainable medical training for a better future

The met4a association (Medical Education and Training for Africa) aims to support medical professionals in African countries through targeted education and training. Particular emphasis is placed on regions with high maternal and infant mortality rates, such as Eritrea. Experienced doctors and midwives conduct two-week missions twice a year in the project countries to empower local professionals.

Our Mission

Dedicated mission teams for on-site medical training

Through targeted training for doctors, nurses, and midwives, we sustainably strengthen local expertise. Our focus is on Gynecology, Obstetrics, and Pneumonology to improve healthcare in the long term. In close cooperation with academic teaching hospitals and international organizations, we rely on scientifically sound programs and continuous quality assurance. Our work is financed by donations and government support in Germany.

Our history

Share knowledge. Create opportunities.

Medical Education and Training for Africa e.V. (met4a) was founded in Remscheid in 2018 to provide practical training for medical professionals in Africa. Originating from a previous cooperation with the Hammer Forum, the association focuses on sustainable training instead of short-term aid missions. A key project emerged in Eritrea, where midwives, among other things, were trained in obstetric ultrasound – supported by GIZ. The project work is to be further expanded in the future.
